Classic Tractors.

August 29, 2010

Today’s post is somewhat different in that we will be discussing Classic Tractors instead of Classic Cars. Most of us that love cars also have a weak spot for anything with a gasoline engine.

I was raised on a tobacco farm in eastern North Carolina so tractors were something that we depended on every day. We mostly had Ford tractors when was I was growing up but we also had a Allis-Chalmers B Model, a Farmall Super-A and a Farmall Cub. I did not tarry around the farm after I finished high school. My brother stayed on the farm and later switched to John Deere as his choice of tractors.

Our local Farmer’s Market had a small tractor show last week end so I took a few pictures for your enjoyment.

I hope you enjoyed seeing a few tractors for a change of pace.

This video has absolutely nothing to do with cars but a lot to do with our country.  As bad as things are going these days it is good to see at least one area that we have improved in.  I would like to apologize to all the Vietnam Vets that came home and were treated terrible.  The folks that treated you that way were not present for this video, and that is a good thing.  We have not improved in many areas since the sixties but this is one that we really have improved in.  I also want all Vietnam Vets to know that we were also very proud of you and shame on us for not being at your return airport to run the other group away.

I was in the Army National Guard during the sixties but as you know President Johnson decided not to use the National Guard and the Reserves in that war on a large scale.  It was probably a good decision because we probably were not trained well enough at the time to do a good job.  We really did not get the proper training or equipment until President Reagan was in office.

The most important thing about this video is that it reflects what the Americans back home think of our troops.  It was very nice that a a former President and First Lady took the time to join the welcoming committee but that is not as important as the Americans that were present.  It would be very nice if our current president would use one of his many vacation days to welcome some of our troops home.

I hope this post does not offend anyone but sometimes you just gotta say what you think!

Please remember to keep our troops and their families in your prayers.

Thanks for watching.
